What to look for, and how each skin concern is treated.

Acne

Acne happens when pores clog with oil and dead skin and become inflamed. It shows up in teens and adults alike, and it is one of the most treatable things we see. Most patients notice a real change within three months of starting a plan.

Signs to look for

  • Breakouts that return. Spots that keep coming back after over-the-counter products.
  • Painful bumps. Deep, tender lumps that sit under the skin.
  • Marks and scars. Dark marks or pitted scars left behind after breakouts.
  • Jawline flares. Breakouts along the jaw that flare each month.

How we treat it

  • Prescription creams. Retinoids and antibiotics applied daily to clear pores.
  • Oral medicine. Antibiotics, hormonal pills or isotretinoin for stubborn acne.
  • Chemical peels. A light peel in the clinic to clear clogged pores and fade marks.
  • Light therapy. Blue light sessions that calm active breakouts.

Rosacea and redness

Rosacea is a long-term condition that causes flushing, lasting redness and small bumps across the cheeks, nose and chin. It can't be cured, but it can be controlled well, and laser treatment can fade redness that creams leave behind.

Signs to look for

  • Flushing. Your face turns red quickly and stays that way.
  • Lasting redness. Redness across the cheeks and nose that won’t fade.
  • Visible vessels. Small red lines across the cheeks or nose.
  • Sensitive skin. Skin that stings or burns with many products.

How we treat it

  • Prescription creams. Gentle medicated creams that calm flares and reduce bumps.
  • Oral medicine. Low-dose antibiotics during flares to settle inflammation.
  • Vascular laser. A laser that fades lasting redness and visible vessels.
  • Gentle skin care. A simple routine that avoids your known triggers.

Eczema and itchy skin

Eczema is inflammation that leaves skin dry, itchy and easily irritated. It often runs in families and flares with weather, stress or certain products. We treat the flare and look for the trigger, including allergy patch testing when it helps.

Signs to look for

  • Constant itch. Itching that keeps you up at night.
  • Cracked patches. Rough, dry skin that cracks or weeps.
  • Crease rashes. Rashes in the folds of the elbows and knees.
  • Product flares. Reactions after a new soap or cream.

How we treat it

  • Prescription creams. Steroid and non-steroid creams to calm a flare quickly.
  • Patch testing. Allergy testing to find the ingredient behind a reaction.
  • Biologic injections. A modern injection for severe eczema that creams don't control.
  • Light therapy. Narrowband UVB sessions for widespread itch.

Hair loss

Hair loss has many causes, from genetics and hormones to stress, illness and low iron. The sooner the cause is found, the more hair can be kept. Your visit starts with a close look at the scalp and, if needed, blood work.

Signs to look for

  • More shedding. More hair in the brush or the shower drain.
  • A wider part. A widening part or a thinning crown.
  • Bald patches. Round, smooth patches with no hair.
  • Sudden loss. Shedding after illness, stress or a big change.

How we treat it

  • Topical treatment. Minoxidil and prescription solutions to slow loss and regrow hair.
  • Oral medicine. Tablets that target hormonal or patterned hair loss.
  • Scalp injections. In-office injections for patchy hair loss.
  • PRP treatment. Your own platelets injected to support regrowth.

Surgical

Mole checks

Most moles are harmless, but a mole that is new, growing or changing deserves a look. A full-body skin check takes about 20 minutes. If anything needs testing, it can usually be removed the same day.

Signs to look for

  • New moles. A mole that appears in adulthood.
  • Changing moles. Growing, or changing shape or color.
  • Itching or bleeding. A spot that itches, bleeds or crusts.
  • The odd one out. A mole that looks unlike your others.

How we treat it

  • Full-body skin check. A head-to-toe exam, with photos kept on file.
  • Mole removal. A quick shave or small excision under numbing medicine.
  • Lab testing. Removed moles go to the lab, with results within a week.
  • Follow-up checks. Regular checks, compared against your photos on file.

Skin cancer

Basal cell and squamous cell cancers are the most common cancers in the country, and caught early they are very treatable. Dr. Park performs every surgery here, including Mohs surgery, which removes the cancer while keeping as much healthy skin as possible.

Signs to look for

  • A sore that won’t heal. Open or crusting for three weeks or more.
  • Shiny bumps. Pearly or waxy bumps that grow slowly.
  • Scaly patches. Rough red patches that bleed easily.
  • A positive biopsy. Or a referral from your own doctor.

How we treat it

  • Skin biopsy. A small sample taken in minutes to confirm a diagnosis.
  • Excision. The cancer removed with a margin of healthy skin, closed with fine stitches.
  • Mohs surgery. Layer-by-layer removal, checked under the microscope as we go.
  • Topical therapy. Prescription creams for early, shallow skin cancers.

Aesthetic

Lines and wrinkles

Lines form where muscles move the skin over and over, and they deepen as skin loses collagen. Wrinkle relaxers soften the lines that come from movement. Claire Novak, our nurse injector, keeps every result natural, and the consultation is free.

Signs to look for

  • Frown lines. Lines between the brows that make you look cross.
  • Forehead lines. Lines that stay when your face is at rest.
  • Crow’s feet. Lines at the corners of the eyes when you smile.
  • Fine lines. Small lines around the mouth and lips.

How we treat it

  • Wrinkle relaxers. Botox or Dysport to soften lines from movement.
  • Laser resurfacing. Laser treatment to smooth fine lines and rough texture.
  • Microneedling. Tiny needles that boost collagen for smoother skin.
  • Chemical peels. Peels that soften fine lines and brighten skin.

Volume loss

With age, the face loses fat and bone, which flattens the cheeks, thins the lips and hollows the under-eyes. Hyaluronic filler restores that volume gently. It is added in small amounts and can be dissolved if needed.

Signs to look for

  • Flatter cheeks. Cheeks that look less full than they did.
  • Thinner lips. Lips that have lost their shape or size.
  • Under-eye hollows. Shadows that make you look tired.
  • Smile lines. Deep lines running from the nose to the mouth.

How we treat it

  • Dermal fillers. Hyaluronic filler for cheeks, lips and smile lines.
  • Under-eye filler. A fine filler placed carefully to soften hollows.
  • Collagen stimulator. A gradual treatment that builds volume over months.
  • Follow-up visit. A check two weeks later to fine-tune the result.

Sun spots and tone

Years of sun leave brown spots and uneven color, and hormones can cause darker patches called melasma. Light and laser treatments fade spots well. Melasma needs a gentler approach, and we tailor the plan to your skin type.

Signs to look for

  • Sun spots. Brown spots on the face, chest or hands.
  • Dark patches. Patches on the cheeks or upper lip.
  • Blotchy tone. Uneven color across the face.
  • Summer darkening. Spots that darken every summer.

How we treat it

  • IPL photofacial. Pulses of light that fade brown spots and redness.
  • Chemical peels. Peels that lift dull, uneven outer layers.
  • Prescription creams. Lightening creams for melasma and stubborn patches.
  • Laser toning. A gentle laser that evens tone over a few sessions.

Acne scars and texture

Acne can leave pitted or rolling scars and enlarged pores once the breakouts are gone. Scars improve by rebuilding collagen beneath them, so treatment works over a series of sessions, and most patients see steady change across three to six months.

Signs to look for

  • Pitted scars. Small dips or pits across the cheeks.
  • Rolling scars. Wavy, uneven skin texture.
  • Large pores. Pores that look stretched or open.
  • Lingering marks. Marks long after the breakouts have stopped.

How we treat it

  • Microneedling. Tiny needles that rebuild collagen beneath scars.
  • Laser resurfacing. A laser that smooths deeper scars and texture.
  • Subcision. A small procedure that releases tethered scars.
  • Chemical peels. Deeper peels that soften shallow scars and marks.
